Ford Transit Sliding Door Won T Lock

I hit the central locking button on the key and seem to be able to hear the release clicking but cannot open the door.

The sliding door on my 2008 van won t open. The sliding door won t open using the key fob. The van locks securely and with the dead lock feature working as well. I can be there for ages sometimes just trying to get in my side door.
